On July 11, a delegation from the city of Siping of the People's Republic of China headed by Mayor Chen Deming arrived in Nizhny Novgorod on a two-day business visit. The main purpose of the visit is to establish new partnerships with Nizhny Novgorod enterprises.
Thus, a meeting of foreign guests with representatives of regional business was held at the Corporate University of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod region. The meeting was attended by the heads of large enterprises from the Nizhny Novgorod region, such as Ruspolimet, Himinvest, Russian Field agricultural holding and others. From the Chinese delegation - the heads of nine industrial, pharmaceutical and agricultural companies.
The event was also attended by Olga Guseva, Director of the Department of External Relations of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod region. She noted that China is one of the priority areas of international cooperation of the Nizhny Novgorod region and is traditionally one of the three key trade and economic partners.
"It's nice to see that new regions of China are striving to develop cooperation with the Nizhny Novgorod region. We have extensive potential in a variety of fields, whether it is industry, agriculture or education. I am sure that today's meeting will be productive and will be the start for the development of new joint projects," Olga Guseva said.
During the meeting, representatives of Nizhny Novgorod and Chinese companies discussed prospects for cooperation, and also assessed the possibility of establishing joint ventures in the field of mechanical engineering, chemical industry and agriculture both in the region and in Jilin Province of China.
As the Department of External Relations recalled, in the new geopolitical conditions, the creation of mutually beneficial projects with the BRICS countries is becoming increasingly relevant. Last year, the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin, approved a Comprehensive program for the implementation of cooperation with the BRICS countries for 2022-2024, which included activities in the field of industry, education, agriculture, culture, sports, etc. The main part of the activities of this program is devoted to cooperation with the People's Republic of China.
"It is worth noting that next year our country will chair the BRICS, so I am sure that 2024 will be a landmark year for our region in terms of cooperation with the BRICS member countries and, above all, with China. As part of the planned events, we will show what prospects await our foreign partners in expanding the areas of cooperation with the Nizhny Novgorod region," the head of the department added.
As part of the visit, on July 12, the Chinese delegation will also visit Pervomaisk to sign a memorandum on the establishment of twinning relations between municipalities.
